First International Service Production with Tax Incentives in Place
After 23 shooting days we've wraped our first international service production with Croatian Tax Incentives in place. The road movie "Unterwegs Mit Elsa" directed by Bettina Woernle was shot in Croatia and Slovenia and serviced by PAKT MEDIA.
Croatia has introduced a Tax Rebate for film and television productions in 2012. The Rebate applies to Feature Films, Documentaries, Short Films, Television Drama and Animation. Projects can derive a benefit of up to 20% of their qualifying expenditure.

Filmed in Vrgorac, Croatia on a closed highway, the film was directed by Smuggler's Henry Alex Rubin, known for his documentary feature (Murderball, nominated for the Best Documentary Academy Award) and campaigns like Burger King's "Whopper Freakout" and Domino's "Pizza Turnaround”, and included the talents of stunt director Peter Pedrero, who worked on “The Bourne Ultimatum,” the Harry Potter films, and “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.”

ABC's "Missing" in Dubrovnik and island Hvar

The storyline is based on a mother’s quest to find her son, who disappeared during summer internship. “Red Tails” soars at the box office
“Red Tails,” the George Lucas film that tells the story of the Tuskegee Airmen and has been partly shot in Croatia, enjoyed a robust debut weekend, claiming the #2 spot by bringing in more than $19 million at the box office, according to the Hollywood Reporter and other industry reports.
New tax rebate for filmmakers in Croatia
A new tax rebate initiative has been introduced in Croatia to benefit both domestic and international filmmakers. Projects can derive a benefit of 20% of cash rebate of their qualifying expenditure in Croatia. The Croatian Audiovisual Centre, the government backed strategic agency for the audiovisual sector in Croatia, intends to make filming incentive available by March 2012.

Fox team has decided to shot "Masterwork", a pilot developed by Paul T. Scheuring (Prison Break) in Croatia. After successful shot in Istria, FOX has put the project on ice. The “Da Vinci Code” meets "The Amazing Race" project was suddenly deemed too expensive.
Big movie comes to a small town
"Big Movie comes to a small town" (available as special feature on DVD) is a short movie about filming "Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" in Slovenia. The crew of filmmakers outnumbered the inhabitants of the area by almost two to one, faced extreme weather conditions, enjoyed fishing in clear waters of Soča River, and even find historical similarities of the place and the bridge battle filming scene. The choice of the location was based on its its strong visual resemblance to New Zealand.
